Of drama and hidden insecurities
Don’t you sometimes wonder if everybody actually has something worse going on in their lives but for fear of public ridicule they just keep it all bottled up inside and pretend they’re fine just so that people don’t call them drama queens?
People are forced to put up their defenses, hide to an extent their true feelings, and well, be less human. Those that need help don’t reach out because they become afraid of the very people who can actually help them.
It makes me ponder on the philosophy I’ve been reading in the books over and over. For the past 11 books that I’ve finished, it has been reiterated time and time again how Earth people are less natural than well, those in Gor (which is fictional, but it represents an idea). It’s a skewed analogy really because the books may speak more about it in the aspect of gender roles than feelings in general.
In the end, I’d just like to make a point that things aren’t always what they seem because people can only see so much from one vantage point.
People want to seem calm, collected, and lukewarm. They do not show their real feelings no matter how overflowing it may be. Society has pushed people to have little feelings or at least conceal them for the sake of being “mature”.
It seems to me that mature actually means robotic. It’s sad how people are supposed to hide their emotions for propriety’s sake and it ends up with people just keeping their pent up frustrations and exploding out of nowhere later on. Or perhaps they just end up being a total wreck, and then when others notice, it would’ve been too late.
